What you need to know before Kick off
miércoles, 16 de septiembre de 2009 22:02:40

The first season of the 3D Sports Adult Soccer league is right around the corner!  Here are some tips to help get the season started right:

Rosters & Player identifaction

- You may add players to your your roster until Friday (9/18/2009) at 12pm. After Noon on Friday, no new players can be added to yoru roster for the remainder of the season.

- Be at least 30 minutes early for your first match and BRING PHOTO ID.  A member of the 3D Staff will be taking head shots onsite to use in the creation of a master list of all rostered players.

- Know your jersey number.  The number you tell us at check in on opening day will be associated with your head shot and name on the roster.  These master rosters will be maintained by 3D Staff and will be presented to the refs prior to the start of every match for player identification.  Head shot and jersey numbers will be used to track fouls and cards during the season so you cannot change your number after your head shot is taken.

- Please be sure that no unregistered players participate in any matches as it will constitute a forfeit for that team.

League Rules

Please be sure to review our rules regarding particpation in this league prior to the start of matches. They can be viewed starting on 9/18/2009 on your league home page.

Feedback

During the course of the season there are bound to be situations you wish to bring to our attention.  Please use the "Contact Us" page on the 3D Sports website to complete a feedback form in writting.  Be sure to include contact information so that we can respond to your comments.  Feedback regarding match officials must be submitted in writing by the individual designated as coach/manager in our EZFacility system.  All Referee decisions are final, but your feedback will be reviewed.

Adult Soccer League - GET REGISTERED!
martes, 01 de septiembre de 2009 11:00:37

We know that area players are hesitant to join the new 3D Sports Adult Soccer League because some are worried about having strong divisions.  We would like to urge you to MOVE FORWARD  in registering your team ASAP so that this concern does not become a "self fulfilling prophecy".   You see, if everyone plays the “wait and see” game there will be no end to the waiting and ultimately nothing to see ;-) Many players have been looking for an alternative peninsula league for years and 3D purposefully did not run one until we knew 100% that we could offer a better product than what is already out there.    The 1st 2nd  3rd and 7th place teams from the Rush summer league have already come over to 3D (in addition to several others) so we Know the level of competition will be good....  we just have to get the quantity where it needs to be with 6-10 teams per division.  Hope you guys will join us!!!  Please read below for further details concerning registration.

Registration Details     (Click here to link to registration page)

All games will be played in York County on Saturday & Sunday afternoons between 12 and sunset.

The per player fee is $75.00 and all rostered players must be paid in full prior to the start of your first match or they will be dropped from your roster. How to register: The first player on your team to register must choose "I am registering my entire team." with the "new team fee" to create the team for the rest of your teammates.  This person's fee is the same as everyone else's: $75.00.  Once the team has been created, your teammates will select "I am registering for a team." with the "individual fee" and then choose your team from the drop down list.

Refunds:

3D Sports does not issue refunds for voluntary withdraws.  However, in the event that participation rates are too low to run a league, teams will first be given the option to combine divisions and will be issued FULL refunds if that option is either undesirable or ineffective in creating robust divisions of fair competition.

Questions regarding the registration process should be directed to 757-969-5716.

The Benifits of Small Sided Play in Small Spaces
miércoles, 12 de agosto de 2009 15:52:59

We thought some of you might have questions about 5v5 in general and/or about the field size (40x20yards) at the PSC Kick Fest so we put together some thoughts for you.

HOW DOES SMALL SIDED PLAY (5v5) ON A SMALL FIELD PROMOTE BETTER TECHNIQUE?
Just watch your players fight to keep the ball from crossing the touch line and you'll immediately begin to see how smaller fields develop skill, control, and technique. A small field puts players constantly under pressure from other players and out-of-play boundaries. Players must learn to settle the ball rapidly, chop sharply, shield effectively, pass quickly and move into space.  AND every player gets tons of touches giving them more opportunities to develop/sharpen thier skills.  Our small fields also provide more decision making opportunities and high pressure situations than the 5v5 on a spacious field.

At the PSC 5-a-Side KickFest, the emphasis is clearly on control and technique. Without control and technique you cannot expect to succeed in soccer. Compared to large field soccer, 5v5 places a greater premium on ball control. There is no reward for errant passes because the other team gets the ball. There is no reward for errant shots because the other team gets the ball. There is no incentive to 'kick and run' because the field is too small and packed with players. Players with the ball must use proper technique to maintain control and must seek out other players in space. Players without the ball must move to space and must truly support their teammates.

IS 5v5 AS MUCH FUN AS "REAL SOCCER"?
Absolutely. If you like outdoor soccer, you'll love 5v5. It is fast paced and exciting. With the field being so small, scoring chances abound and games are often high scoring affairs with many different players scoring goals.  On a larger field shooting opportunities are limited but in 5v5, everyone gets a look at the goal.  All players participate in both the attack and defense, keeping them more engaged and active... and its SUPER FUN to wacth!

Hope you enjoy the first PSC 5-a-Side Kick Fest,

3D Sports & Portsmouth Soccer Club

As we get ready for this weekend's event we thought you might be interested in this information.  GOOD LUCK and PLAY HARD!

 ========================================================

Sports"person"ship
As always our emphasis is on Good Sportsmanship and Fair Play, “in the opinion of the Referee…” Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated on the pitch OR in the stands. Players or spectators who fail to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner will be asked to leave the playing area and play will be suspended until they comply. Repeated unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a player's suspension from the event or a spectator being barred from entry into the playing area.

NO PROTESTS ARE ALLOWED during the event, but we would appreciate your feedback following the conclusion of all scheduled matches.

Start of Play
Coaches shall ensure that all players are on scene a minimum of thirty (30) minutes before a scheduled match. A team which cannot field three (3) players at the scheduled start time shall forfeit the match. The team forfeiting shall be declared the loser by a score of 3 goals to none.

If no referee is present within ten (10) minutes of the scheduled start time, the match will be rescheduled unless both teams agree to proceed. If the match proceeds, the score shall stand as played without protest.

Tournament Standings
Bracket standings to determine finalists will be based on the following :

WIN - 3 PTS, TIE - 1 PT, LOSS - 0 PTS
Total points ties will be resolved by the following tie-breakers, in order:

1. Head to Head of two teams tied where applicable (disregard if more than two teams tied)
2. Team with the least goals allowed
3. Team with the highest (positive) goal differential
4. If still tied, both teams will proceed to an available field at Field Marshall's discretion and determine winner by penalty kicks (see below format).

Tournament Overtime
Ties in preliminary games will remain a tie. For final matches, ties will be resolved in the following order:

1. One 3 minute "golden goal" overtime in which the winner shall be the first team to score.
2. Penalty Kicks Shootout. First round to consist of five players from each team kicking. Any players may kick. A minimum of two female player must kick in the first round of all Coed divisions. If tied after first round, kicks shall be taken one for one. Players cannot repeat until all eligible players have kicked.

Forfeits
Forfeits cause gross inconvenience to opponents and disruptions of schedule. Accordingly, forfeiting teams will be precluded from competition in final matches, unless specifically authorized by the Tournament Director or Administrator under only most unique and/or emergency circumstances. Teams in the Adult brackets contemplating the use of players on more than one team must understand that it is possible both teams may be in action at the same time.
